C-Fly Dream Drone

C-Fly Dream Drone is an alternative to the standard and well known DJI drones. It is a quadcopter with 4 propellers and a camera to view live feed and capture images and videos. It is a budget drone with some great features usually seen in drones far more expensive than the C-Fly Dream Drone. In this article, we will be giving you a detailed review of the C-Fly Dream Drone Review.

Our Verdict

The is a great budget drone. It has many features that usually exist in more expensive models, such as auto take-off and landing, a decent camera with a 2 axis gimbal, different flight modes to make the flying experience versatile, and the stability to withstand even moderate wind. It gives a 12 to fifteen minute flight time, depending on the functions you use. It is not a professional drone for videography, cinematography, or photography. Still, it is a great product to use if you don’t have much experience in drone flying but don’t want to use a toy-grade drone. The controller and the drone are designed to mimic products made by major drone manufacturers like DJI, so you don’t have to worry about whether it would feel alien in your hands. It is an excellent premium drone at a reasonable and affordable price.

Design

The is designed, keeping in mind that most drone flyers are familiar with DJI drones. The feel is like that of a DJI drone with more affordable pricing. It comes with a standard controller on which you can mount your smartphone to view the live feed, take photos and videos, and view and monitor the flight data.

It has a decent camera that captures videos in 1080p and gives clear aerial shots. It has a 2 axis gimbal, which provides movement to the camera without compromising on stability. It has various features such as auto take-off and landing, different flight modes such as altitude hold, position mode, orbit mode, one-touch return home, headless mode, etc. These are rarely seen in drones in the same price range.

It is GPS assisted, which gives it excellent stability. It can hold its position until about 1.2 meters in the air.  It has 4 brushless motors with a service life of about 7 to 10 years and works continuously for about 20000 hours, saving about 70% more power than a brush motor

Flight

First and foremost, the C-Fly Dream Drone is very stable. It has a great GPS positioning system, which helps navigation. The ease of flying is coupled with the fact that it is a great product and also that it is designed to mimic other drone manufacturer models such as DJI. It flies like a true premium device.

The C-Fly Dream Drone has three flight modes, altitude hold mode, position mode, and orbit mode. In Altitude hold mode, unless prompted by the user, the drone will hold its position, hovering in the same spot with stability. By turning on the orbit mode, you can circle the drone around a point of interest and take circular footage of it from all directions. Position mode works best when you have a strong GPS signal. It provides the most stable flight. In position mode, the C-Fly Dream Drone can maintain its altitude and position even with moderate windy conditions. Most of the standard functions can be performed in all three modes.

The C-Fly Dream Drone has auto take-off and landing. This means that once it is turned on, the drone will fly fully autonomously, perform flight control, and stabilize on its own. In auto-landing mode, it will position itself above the landing gear on its own and slowly descend without any user input. This takes the responsibility of a smooth landing and takes off without damage out of the user’s hands. The LEDs help increase visibility and also work as indicators.

It can hold an altitude of up to 1.2 meters, has a transmission range of 800 meters, and is equipped with GPS+GLONASS for stability. It also has a one-press return home, which will return the drone to its original position by tracing its path.

Controller

The comes with a controller, like any standard drone. As it is a budget drone, it does not have an LCD screen on the controller. However, it has an inbuilt stand to mount your smartphone on the controller to view the live feed, flight time, take photos and videos, and make any changes in the settings as per your preference.

There are a couple of buttons and switches on the controller. The controller has two standard joysticks for navigation. It also has a one-press power button to start the controller. Just open the controller’s back panel, insert the controller battery, put the cover back on, and the controller is ready to be used. Make sure that you match the pins on the battery with the pins on the panel. It has a single button for taking photos and videos. A single press will take photos, and a long press will start and stop a video.

There is a three-level switch on the upper left-hand side corner that gives different modes to the drone, namely the altitude hold mode, position mode, and orbit mode. In Altitude mode, the drone will hover in the same position; in position mode, it will maintain its position in windy conditions. In orbit mode, you can circle it around an object of interest while taking photos and videos.

Below this 3 level switch is the wheel, which controls the angle of the gimbal. Using this, you can change the position of the gimbal and thus the position of the camera. As it is a 2 axis gimbal, you can move it upwards or downwards using the wheel.

Above the photo and video button, the controller is the switch for auto return on the face of the controller. This can be used if the drone loses its transmission signal, or if it indicates low battery, or if you lose visual contact with the drone.

The controller also has an auto take-off and auto-landing button, the mechanics of which are similar to the photo/video button. The names are self-explanatory. Once the drone is powered on, pressing the button once will make the drone take off automatically and hover in the air, whereas pressing it again will make the drone landing smoothly on the landing gear autonomously.

The Controller comes with a detachable rechargeable lithium polymer battery of 2500 mAh and 3.7volts capacity. It is easy to operate and is designed to keep in mind the user experience of people who have used controllers other than Popstars’. Thus, it mimics any standard DJI or Autel, or any other drone manufacturers you see in the market.

Camera Quality

The C-Fly Dream Drone is a 4K FHD camera which records in 1080p and can provide high-quality aerial shots. It has a 2 axis gimbal, which provides stability as well as maneuverability to the drone. Due to the C-Fly Dream Drone’s great stable flight ability, we can get crisp and clear photos and videos. It also has a waypoint function, which allows the drone to fly on its own, which allows you to concentrate more on the camera.

It isn’t a camera that videographers and cinematographers will jump at, but it gets the job done. Considering that it is a budget drone, the C-Fly Dream Drone has a decent camera. It has a bit of jello effect in windy conditions, which means that the camera may vibrate when the wind is high, but even then, the effect on the video quality is slight. The gimbal allows you to take beautiful panoramic shots, and the orbit mode will allow you to capture a point of your interest from different angles.

Overall, while not great for professional videography and photography, the C-Fly Dream Drone does a pretty great job with its camera.

Build Quality

The has a sturdy body with a sleek and compact design. It has dimensions of 148*145*60mm and weighs about 280 grams. It comes in a sturdy box or bag that keeps all the accessories in one place and protects it from dust, water and wear and tear.

It has 4 brushless motors with a service life of about 7 to 10 years and works continuously for about 20000 hours, saving about 70% more power than a brush motor. It can withstand moderate wind, which assures us that the C-Fly Dream Drone is built for durability and has a rugged, robust build. It also comes with propeller guards to protect the propellers.

The C-Fly Dream Drone has a design similar to a DJI drone, even the controller. It is a stable drone, which doesn’t feel like an alien or a completely new product. Considering the price, it is an excellent sturdy built, keeping in mind the stability, durability, and protection we require in a drone.

Battery

The C-Fly Dream Drone comes with two batteries, one for the drone and one for the controller. Both are rechargeable detachable lithium-polymer batteries. The drone battery has a capacity of 11.4 volts and 950 mAh, which gives a flight time of 15 minutes without video recording and about 12 to 13 mins flight time with video recording.

The controller battery has a capacity of 3.7 volts and 2500 mAh. Both these batteries are detachable and can be charged using a USB cord. The USB cord can be connected to a computer or a compatible wall adaptor. The USB points on both batteries are on the battery pack itself, so you can have an uninterrupted flying experience with the C-Fly Dream Drone if you have rechargeable batteries.

Memory

The allows a maximum of 64 GB storage in a detachable SD memory card. This is a great feature as most drones provide storage of about 32GB. You can also save the footage and images directly into your smartphone when you mount it on your controller. Still, it is recommended to use an SD memory card to prevent any lag that you might experience because of a signal transmission issue, low battery, or any other circumstance. The 64GB memory card can store about 2 hours of video footage in 1080p, which is quite great. However, you must remember to format the memory card before using it, as not doing it can hamper the drone’s error-free functioning.
