Propel Star Wars Drones Review – Best Drone for Battles

If you love watching Star Wars, you’ve certainly fantasised about piloting at one point or another. Propel Star Wars Drones build a reputation. Propel’s Star Wars drones belong to the first category; these flying machines not only sound awesome like other Star Wars-branded drones, but they also function effectively and have more enjoyable features, such as the ability to engage in battles. This is the type of drone that you are looking for if you are a Star Wars fan.

Our Verdict

The Star Wars Battle Drones from Propel aren’t really just toys; they’re mini works of art, packaged to impress even the most discerning collector. The combination of great attention to detail, layout, background music, and music creates an unrivalled real-life video game experience that we doubt can be found anywhere else, at any price.

You will find more comprehensive Star Wars designs and drones that are more flexible and enjoyable to fly, however, you won’t find all of these qualities in one product. Propel’s Star Wars Fighting Drones are in a league of their own when it comes to combating other drones. They’re highly recommended if you’re a Star Wars fan.

Design

Three Star Wars fighting drones make up the Propel line. The Star Wars 74-Z Speeder Bike, Star Wars TIE Advanced X1, and Star Wars T-65 X-Wing Starfighter are among the models available. Drones from the Star Wars franchise are lightweight, light models powered by a 2.4 GHz remote control. This controller can also be connected to your device through Bluetooth, allowing you to monitor your drones using the free Propel Star Wars Combat Drones software.

They can fly at a distance of up to 57 km/h and over a distance of many hundred metres both indoors and outdoors. On a small scale, all of the aspects are present: their features, the matte surface of the material, the small designs and finishes applied to the plastic. It’s difficult to imagine at first that these tiny marvels can also fly and communicate with one another.

Each drone comes in a box that can only be defined as a collector’s item. The external packaging package has a black colour surface with colour imprints for each vehicle as well as the obligatory Star Wars logo. This is intended for inexperienced pilots and aids in the protection of the propeller and, to a lesser extent, the drone model in the event of a crash.

The issue with the Speeder Bike is that the front stretches beyond the safety cage, so it can take a significant hit in a head-on collision. In fact, among the most challenging parts of the Speeder Bike model is extracting the battery, which is held in place by a difficult-to-dislodge clip. You must also clear the Stormtrooper from the way. There’s also no off button, so you’ll have to cut the battery if you don’t want the drone to remain illuminated and drain its battery.

Flight

This is a fantastic feature that enables you to use your remote control to fly a virtual drone on the display and progress through the levels as you develop skills and understand the control system. Due to the Bluetooth link, the virtual drone reacts to your directions almost instantly.

The app also retains a forced viewpoint, with the virtual drone floating away from you and shrinking as the gap grows, just as it does in real life. After all, the primary objective of this app is to simply get your hands on in virtual training mode until trying to fly. The system is only partially aware of the drone’s tendency to move and adjust the level on its own. When you first start flying these drones, it’s easy to forget that they’re just toys.

Without GPS, visual tracking star Wars drones act unsafely while in the air, necessitating near-constant controller changes to keep them stable. Expect to struggle a bit at first if you’re a beginner. It’ll take a few hours of flight time for you to feel truly in control. Remarkably stable flight isn’t possible without onboard cameras, because when it refers to drone flights, that’s meaningless – you don’t fly a Star Wars drone to just fly around in the scenery!

The main aim of this application, however, is to just get your hands on virtual practise mode before actually flying. The system is only partially aware of the drone’s tendency to move and adjust the level on its own.

Camera Quality 

If you’ve made the difficult move to start the package, dim the lights and make absolutely sure there’s no audio or television playing in the background. Once you bring the drone out of the case, you’ll find a fantastic drone neatly arranged on a showcase platform that instantly lights up and begins playing Star Wars sound effects. This Star Wars drone is designed for combat and high-speed manoeuvring.

There is no camera on this unit. It’s possible to add a second light recording unit, but you’d have to build it yourself. It is not suggested. For including this information because it is a complete spoiler, but the experience blew us completely and took us totally off guard. They can be flown both indoors and outdoors, at speeds up to 57 km/h, then over a distance of several hundred metres, according to Propel.

Remote Control 

Although comfortable, the operator is broader than the drone and is unique to each drone. The TIE fighter’s controller, for instance, is black with red stripes, while the X-is Wing’s white. Each controller needs four AA batteries, and when the cover is removed, a mildly amusing message is played. Each device also has its own set of audio and sound effects — the TIE Fighter’s, for instance, plays Imperial tracks.

That’s entertaining, but it can also be stressful, particularly when learning to fly the drone. You can, fortunately, reduce the volume or switch off the sound completely. Two directional buttons, four shoulder buttons, and four additional buttons are located on the controller. A removable arm on the front of the controller can be used to carry a smartphone. Propel intends to release a mobile app with advanced features including games that can be played with other Propel drones.

Before heading off, you’ll want to review the user guide; while the controls are simple enough, you’ll want to understand which button begins and ends the drone, as well as which one causes it to fly in the air. In the training phase, new pilots can get a feel for the inputs and become less likely to crash their drone into a wall, while professional mode allows for incredible speed and survivability.

The drone can not cope with abrupt directional changes when forced to its limits in this phase, as its gyroscopes struggled to compensate for drastic movements.

Battery

Propel Star Wars drones have a 30 to 40-minute battery capacity and can travel up to 35 miles per hour.  If there isn’t the opportunity to purchase spare batteries, charging time is critical. This Star Wars drone is not only powerful enough to fly at high speeds but it is also designed to battle. As a result, you can probably assume that the structure is strong enough to withstand a few mid-air collisions without too much damage.

Being able to manage about 10 minutes of flying time out of the TIE fighter’s batteries once it needed to be recharged, including crashes. I like how the drone comes with two batteries; that way, I can charge one by using the other.

Storage

There are 12 pairs of rotors included with each drone, so you’ll have plenty of spares. Using the included method, the rotors can be easily removed. The motors are also replaceable (they plug into the main circuit board), but you’ll have to disassemble the drone and remove about 15 screws to do so. The controller comes with a small screwdriver, which is very handy.

Final Thought 

This drone is highly recommended and not because of Star Wars. Although if you are a Star Wars fan then this will be the best drone for you. The mixture of great attention to detail, layout, sound effects, and music creates an unforgettable riding experience that you won’t even find elsewhere! You will find more informative Star Wars figures and more compact and fun to fly drones elsewhere, but you won’t be finding these two qualities in a particular device anywhere but Propel.
